Voces de la Frontera May Day march to focus on the solidarity of immigrants and workers
To reach the goals of the march, Voces says the people must unite and resist, and the march on May 1 will give folks an opportunity to join that fight.

The march on the Day Without Immigrants sponsored by Voces de la Frontera will take place in Milwaukee on May 1 in solidarity with immigrants and workers in all parts of our country. The march will focus on reminding people that the United States is a nation of immigrants, that its citizens are children of immigrants and that the country was constructed by immigrants.
Voces de la Frontera has a tradition of demonstrations on May 1, but this year’s march is seen as especially important, given so many feel that democracy and human rights are endangered by the policies of the Trump administration. Voces de la Frontera says the specific demands of the march are:
- Stop the criminalization of immigrants and the separation of families
- Defend Medicaid, food stamps and public education. No more tax cuts for multimillionaires.
- Defend sanctuary cities.
- Immigration reform with a path to citizenship.
To reach the goals of the march, Voces says the people must unite and resist, and the march on May 1 will give folks an opportunity to join that fight. There are already more than 8000 people and several businesses who support the march.
There are several ways to support the march, from donating money to joining the march itself. To learn the details, go to Voces de la Frontera’s web page and click on “May Day: A Day Without Immigrants and Workers.
