Tom Tiffany was happily filling the gas cans while Trump set the country and world on fire

An affordability crisis.

A war of choice with no end in sight that daily depletes our military and leaves us vulnerable.

Self-dealing, corruption, open violations of the emoluments clause of the Constitution.

Reckless spending on vanity projects, such as ballrooms and monuments.

The willingness to knowingly blame an innocent citizen when they realized they'd made a mess of the reflecting pool, but they wouldn't admit it.

A $40 trillion national debt, more than a fourth coming during his six years in office

Embarrassing incompetence in all phases of government.

Mindless trade wars that are on today, off tomorrow, creating uncertainty around the world.

A refusal to release all of the Epstein files even when court-ordered to do so, thus denying victims of child rape any sense of justice.

Heartless and arbitrary deportations of thousands of our fellow humans, only 14 percent of whom had violent convictions while so many others were people who had contributed to our country for decades. 

And more. Oh, so much more cruelty, malfeasance, corruption and incompetence.

You probably assume I’m talking about President Trump. Oh, I am. 

But the last thing I’d want is to deny Tom Tiffany his due.

Because where was he while the one-man wrecking ball was bringing chaos and destruction to the land? 

Standing right at the President’s side, nodding his head and flashing his sickly smile. Not once did he step up or step in and say, No sir, Mr. President. You probably shouldn't. Instead, every time it was, tell me what I can do to help.

None of that is surprising, given that this was a man ready to break the law and violate the Constitution to abet Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. 

It was worse than simply refusing to certify the election for Joe Biden, the undeniable and fairly overwhelming winner that year. He actively sought to send fake electors to Washington D.C., who would certify Wisconsin for Trump, the loser in the state by 20,000 votes. He was in regular communication with the mastermind of the plan, Jim Troupis and defended Troupis following the latter’s felony indictments in the scheme.

Furthermore, Tiffany was the only member of the state’s Congressional delegation to sign on to a lawsuit asking the Supreme Court to invalidate Biden’s election.

This is a portrait of a dishonorable, anti-democratic man who has no business being anywhere near the Governor’s office.

If you’re sick of all this, sick of all the blatant malfeasance, sick of the hypocrisy of attempting to portray this charlatan as some good ol’ boy on a farm, sick of his support for a two-tiered economy, sick of his lies about data centers (he actually voted to ban states from regulating AI for the next decade), sick of his disregard for the working class and for the affordability crisis they struggle with every day, then make damn sure you keep him out of Madison.

David Crowley is a decent and honorable man who understands what it is to survive through poverty, what it means to work hard just to make ends meet. As a county executive for the past six years, he will be ready on Day 1 to assume the role of Governor.

Enough already. This nation under Trump is a dumpster fire. Don’t for a minute think Tom Tiffany wasn’t on the sidelines furiously refilling the gas cans.
