Take a lovely drive to Freemont, enjoy a fine meal at The Bridge

From the Fox Cities, it is an easy drive to Fremont on a summer day in Wisconsin to share a meal and enjoy the sunshine at The Bridge. The bar-and-restaurant has an outside bar with an attractive and comfortable seating area on the bank of the Wolf River. Some of the guests arrive by car and others tie up their boats at the restaurant’s dock. You can watch the families arrive by boat while other families fish from the dock. The Bridge has been drawing customers from all over Northeast Wisconsin since 1965.
Steve Van Lyssel, the owner of The Bridge since 2011 says that on weekend evenings he often has more than a thousand customers sipping drinks, eating the food, watching the boats go by on the Wolf River and – on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings in summer - enjoying the live music. The bar is a good place to hear local bands play.
The menu includes a variety of salads, sandwiches, wraps, baskets and pizzas along with curly fries and sweet potato fries. The lettuce in the salads is fresh and crispy. The fish is fresh and tasty. There are several variations on the hamburger. An unusual feature of the menu is that several different kinds of fish are offered including salmon and mahi-mahi. Of course, there is a fish fry on Fridays. The bar has a wide range of beers and bar drinks.
The numerous servers are friendly and efficient, and you can tell that they like working at The Bridge. There is a core of people who work there year after year, and as a result, the service is smooth and quick, even when the place is busy, which it usually is.
There are two ways to get to Fremont from the Fox Cities. You can follow Highway 96 (Wisconsin Ave.) out of Appleton, or you can take Highway 10 and get off at the Fremont exit. The second route is a little faster, but the first is a much prettier drive. The restaurant is open every day from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m.
