New PBS Wisconsin show to highlight Mile of Music in June

By Jerry Iverson
If you noticed cameras on cranes darting and pivoting above the crowd during Mile of Music last summer and wondered what it was all about, you can find out June 23.
PBS Wisconsin will present a show on Appleton’s annual musical extravaganza that evening at 8. The one-hour special will highlight the sights, sounds and fun from last year’s event. Mile of Music is an all-original music festival featuring over 200 musical acts and 700 free shows delivered in more than thirty indoor and outdoor venues in downtown Appleton.
The Fox Cities Exhibition Center will air the show on Monday, June 16 at 6 p.m. It is free to the public. You can sign up to attend at the PBS website or on at the event’s Facebook page.
This year, Mile of Music 12 will run from July 31 through Aug. 3. Once again there will be more than 200 musical acts providing over 700 performances at over 30 indoor and outdoor venues.
You can download the Mile of Music app where you can review this year’s artists. More acts will be introduced and updated on the app.
You can listen to free original music all weekend during the day and into the night. There will also be events for kids and musical education opportunities as well.
Even though Mile of Music is free, the community can provide financial support at www.appletoncommunitymusic.org
