Cold can't keep large Appleton crowd from rallying, marching
The focus on Thursday’s rally was workers’ rights more specifically but the signs pointed to a broader discontent among Northeast Wisconsinites

More than 200 citizens came out to Houdini Plaza on a cold, damp Thursday evening as part of a nation-wide May Day/International Workers Day protest.
It was the latest in a series of public demonstrations against the Trump administration and what protesters see as presidential overreach, corruption and the gutting of social services through executive orders.
The focus on Thursday’s rally was workers’ rights more specifically but the signs pointed to a broader discontent among Northeast Wisconsinites, including LGBTQ+ rights, immigrants rights and women’s rights.

Protesters were camped at all four corners of Appleton and College Ave as dozens of cars honked their support.
Poet EJ Tree led the crowd in various protest chants before the rally turned into a march that traveled east on College Avenue, turned south to Lawrence and ended at Jones Park.
